Marble Table Top Restoration
Etched, Damaged Marble Table
A homeowner in Seminole, Florida contacted us to find out whether our marble table top restoration services could do anything to improve the appearance of an old marble table. Our client inherited the table, apparently left behind by the previous owner, when he purchased the home. The marble had quite a bit of etch damage, which was likely caused by spilled acidic substances, such as juice or wine, that had reacted with the calcium carbonate in the stone. The dullness of the marble finish was probably caused by improper cleaners. The unsightly marble table was in such poor condition that the new homeowner had already purchased a new dining room table and made plans to sell the marble table for whatever he could get.
Our Marble Restoration Process
First, we masked and protected the surrounding area. Then, we used a hand tool mounted with diamond infused pads in successively finer grits to hone the surface, removing scratches and etch damage, and to polish the marble, restoring the shine. Finally, we applied an impregnating sealer to inhibit staining. Our client was so delighted with the results of our work that he decided to keep the marble table and sell the table he had purchased instead.
